DOOR BUZZER SYSTEM: Allen Park Public Schools. How To Videos.

Dear APPS Staff & Families,

The safety of our students and staff has always been a top priority in Allen Park Public Schools.  We are pleased to share that the Board of Education approved the purchase of a school entry buzzer system as an additional security measure.  School office staff have received training and we are prepared to implement the new system per the schedule below.  Building principals will be sending customized plans for school buildings within the next week, so please monitor email and blog communications.

o   Allen Park Middle School – Monday, November 19

o   Arno, Bennie & Lindemann Elementary – Monday, November 26

o   Allen Park High School – Monday, November 26

o   Allen Park Community School & Riley Education Center – Monday, November 26

This new safety initiative means that all school building doors, including main entrances, will be locked during instructional hours.  Access will be made available at main entrances ONLY, which will be locked at a predetermined time, based on the needs of each school, each morning.

Parents, visitors and vendors needing to enter the school buildings throughout the instructional day will be required to share a purpose for the visit and show ID before entry will be allowed.

We need your help and cooperation for our system to work effectively.  Office staff may be handling multiple tasks and although they will work diligently to help you gain access into the building as quickly as possible, there may be a short delay until someone can view you on the monitor and allow access.  Again, all visitors must come to the school office immediately after gaining access to the building to receive a visitor’s badge.

Special thanks to Ms. Carey Kelly, APMS Broadcast Team and APMS Office Staff for creating the terrific ‘how to’ video clip!

We ask for your patience as well all get acquainted with this new system and remember that we have your child’s best interest at heart.

Sincerely,

Michael H. Darga

Superintendent of Schools
